Story

Good early years education and care can change a child's life. Watercliffe Meadow School, Sheffield Hallam University and Save the Children UK have been working together since 2018 to develop an innovative community nursery project in Shirecliffe that will change outcomes for local children. In April 2021 the nursery will open to children aged 2-3 years and we are now raising money to develop the outdoor play area so that it will provide fantastic learning and development opportunities. Sally Pearse (Strategic Lead for Early Years at South Yorkshire Futures) and Fufy Demissie (Senior Lecturer and Coordinator in Early Years Education), are running 60 miles between them in one day (1 mile for every month of the first 5 years of life) to raise money for this cause.
